Our 5th Anniversary!

I get really annoyed when my computer freaks out and erases half a post I have already written. I can never write it the 2nd time b/c either a) it won't be the same or b) I'm just too damn annoyed. Good thing I'm not a writer or something. Anyway, I still really want to post about our 5 year anniversary but after writing half of it last night and the computer exploding, I'm kind of uninterested.

In any case I'll share with you the highlights....

Thanks to my fabulous parents we were able to spend a night out unlike you can when you have a toddler. We went to an O's baseball game, which may seem pretty lame to some, but keep in mind, I am very pregnant and we really like baseball. We haven't been to a game since before Gage was born so it was nice to get back out there. The weather was perfect and it was a good time, although they lost. They ALWAYS lose when we see them. After the game we drove to Annapolis to spend the night so we could walk around the next day down by the water and meander among the little shops. It was a good time and we had an awesome crabcake lunch. The service sucked but the food outweighed that. It got hot quickly but we did get to go in some cool shops and just spend time together sans toddler. It was our last hurrah before our lives are filled w/ diapers, spit up, and sleepless nights again and a great way to spend our 5th year anniversary. Gage had a blast playing with his Nana and Grandiddy so we all had a good weekend. What was even better???

The pair of diamond earrings that Luke bought me me to match my engagement ring! Aren't they awesome??

They were a complete surprise but are wonderful because although I have tons of jewelry I can wear them with just about everything! Here's to many more!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to my amazing husband and Gage's awesome Daddy!  Today we are spending Luke's 33rd birthday at Dutch Wonderland, a kiddie amusement park, for Gage's last hoorah as an only child!  hah...it just so happened he already had off work and it was as good a day as any to go, so here we are.  We'll be back tomorrow to update you on our trip!  Happy Birthday Luke!

Although this picture is over 6 months old now, it is still my favorite of my 2 favorite men.

Yesterday's picture...

was from exactly 4 months ago on Easter Sunday.  I loved this picture when it was taken and I still love it.  I had it in my banner for a while, but since I change them so often, it's lost in cyber space now.  Thought I'd repost it permanently.

A beautful weekend!

This weekend brought beautiful weather and it makes me long for the summer even more. At least I only have 5 days until Spring Break. Friday, Luke had off w/ Gage, so he got to have plenty of Daddy time. He took him for 2 walks and fed him outside. Yesterday, unfortunately I had grad school ALL day long so Gage got more Daddy time. Again, they went for a walk and hung out outside. Finally, today I had off w/ so we got to spend some family time. Brett and Meg came over to visit and then we went to buy Gage a HIGH CHAIR! It is so exciting that he is about to eat solid food. I don't particularly like the color high chair that we got, but if you know anything about Graco, you know all of the color schemes are different prices and if you know anything about us, you know we'll buy the cheapest one that is not pink. That is why our stroller, pack n' play, swing and high chair do not match. oh well....so I got a color I don't like but it was $20 cheaper than the rest, so I'll get over it. It's very boyish (everything we bought we tried to make gender neutral in case we have a little girl in the future). In any case, I guess one day this week or the weekend I'll go out and start purchasing baby food!

Gage was in such a wonderful mood today and everything is so amazing to him. It was the most precious thing ever today when he stared into my face and touched my nose, and mouth and eyes as if he was seeing me for the 1st time. He then turned and did the same thing to Luke, smiling all the while. He had finally found his Mommy and Daddy and we're the coolest people around! Only 5 more days before I get to spend 10 days w/ my baby!

"Nuk"ie monster

This was my 1st week back to work and also the week that we chose to unswaddle our baby. Yes, I know I said that like 2 weeks ago, but it never happened. It took Gage accidentally rolling over in his swaddle and not being able to get back over to convince us. And why not, on the 1st day I have to be up by 5am? The dr. said it would take about a week for him to get used to it and it's been almost that. The first night was rough (3.5 hrs. of sleep) but so is any new habit you teach a baby. Anyway, he sleeps pretty much as well and as long as he did before. Now, we just have to work on the nap situation....and attempting to get him to nap on a regular basis.

Also, I believe that my husband has created what we like to call a "Nuk"ie monster and if they don't already have a shirt that says that, I am marketing one and trademarking it. Anyway, our child will now not nap or sleep w/o a Nukie, which is fine since he used to just spit it out after he had calmed himself. But oh no, not now....now he will fuss until we come and pop it back in for him. Oh no, not me! That is all Luke. I told him he should look for a blow up mattress for the floor of his nursery when Gage moves in, b/c I'll be damned if I get up everytime he needs it. I have friends who do that and it's just not going to work for me.

Also this week, Gage and Daddy have had a lot of fun... from going on walks and going shopping to making cheesecakes. Gage also found his hands this week and went cross eyed for hours looking at them. He is now trying to figure out how to get them in his mouth........oh and Gage's 3rd snowfall of his life....on a Saturday. This will make it 3 weeks, 5 weeks and 11 weeks.
