Project 52: Week 34 (THE last week of summer)

Week 34 was our beach week.  Lots of pictures from only 4 days.  See, sometimes, I just like to play and not take pictures.  I tend to only take my camera to the beach one or 2 days while we're there.  Playing is too much fun.

And although I have been seriously slacking on birthday posts (I do apologize to those I have missed), I do not have any pictures but do want to wish my niece, Ianna a very happy 9th birthday today and my good friend, Malisa, a happy birthday as well.

Project 52: Week 29 and 30

Ok, so it's not really a Project 52 anymore, but it's just a lot of pictures broken down by weeks;)

Week 29 (July 14-20)- OMG, complete fail!  Now it really is over.  I have ZERO pictures from this week, what the hell did we do?  Looking back at my calendar, this was our super busy, super fun week.  Guess we were having so much fun I didn't bother to take any pictures.  We had a bounce house playdate on Monday, AJ over on Tuesday, a swim playdate on Wed. and Thursday (Oh, wait, I have ONE picture a friend sent me!) and I had a much needed pedicure on Saturday!

Week 30 (July 21-27)- Luke's bday week and our long weekend beach getaway.  Can you believe no pictures of the birthday- we spent the entire day in the car, but then had ice cream and cake on Sunday instead.  Here are my boys enjoying the beach and the rest of the week.

Project 52: Week 19- Late as Usual

Another poor show this week.  I swear, I just don't have the time or think about taking pics of our every day life, although I know that's what this is all about.  I think I have pictures from 4 days and if we hadn't gone to the beach I'm sure it would've been less than that.

A thankful weekend

I realize I haven't been keeping up my thankful posts, but we've been in a better place this weekend- OBX.  So today, I have lots to be thankful for.

Today I am thankful for my parents' beach house and their letting us visit it often, so that my boys can grow up with the same traditions that I did as a kid.

Day 8- I am thankful for sleeping children who let us get to my parents' house with only one stop, making traveling with a toddler and infant not so bad after all.

Day 9- I am thankful for our electricity and that we didn't lose it due to Hurricane Sandy.  We were without for about 3 hours tonight and we just about lost our minds.

Day 10- I am thankful for the sunshine and beautiful weather.  Mid 60's in the middle of November at the beach, are you kidding?!?

Day 11- I am thankful for all the men and women who are veterans of the military as well as active duty who risk their lives every day for our country.

Day 12-  I am thankful I have 2 weeks left of maternity leave to spend with my sweet baby.  The time goes too fast.

The Outer Banks

There is no other place I'd rather be.  As I'm deciding what to blog about this week, many baby posts come into my brain:  the nursery, that is nowhere close to being done, the fact that I have but 10 weeks to go, the thought of holding a new teeny baby.  All of those things I'm sure I'll write about soon, but there are also tons of pictures I've been neglecting to post:  mainly ones of our last 2 trips to the Outer Banks.

When we go and do things with Gage these days, I sometimes struggle with taking pictures.  I want to live in the moment and play with him and not worry about snapping pictures at every turn.  Then again, of course I like having our family events caught on camera and would be sad if they were completely undocumented.  Therefore when we're at the beach, I usually take a couple days off as photographer just to play with him (unless we're doing something pretty special), then usually take a day or two to for sure to snap some new beach pictures.  I mean at this point, I probably have 100's from the Outer Banks since we frequent it so much.  And you can only have but so many sand/sea pictures.  In any case, the last 2 trips we have made to the OBX, one with friends and one with family, were ignored on this blog, visually at least.  They didn't consist of too much out of the ordinary, just so good ole beach time and fun with friends and family, so I'll just share some pictures of our weekend/week.

I had a couple of good posts already written when our computer decided to once again overheat and freak out. I was really going to be on a roll and be able to leave you guys with posts while we were out of town, but of course it didn't work out. We're at the beach and will be until Wednesday, so we'll see you then! You should have some decent posts from us this weekend as well as a baby update! Have a great week!

A First...

Since I already have birthday posts scheduled for the next 2 days and we all know what a pathetic blogger I have been lately, I figure while the  mood strikes me, I better write.  So I'm foregoing Wordless Wednesday this week to tell you about our past weekend.

Last year for President's Day, we took Gage to the beach for the long weekend.  We went to the aquarium and spent time with Nana and Grandiddy as well as probably getting to go on a little overdue date night.  This year, we considered doing the same thing, since we hadn't been to the beach in *gasp* 6 months!  I couldn't take it any longer and whether it was Februrary or not, I was for sure going to go.  Then Luke and I got a wild hair that maybe we would see if Nana and Grandiddy would want to watch Gage for the weekend  (their house is right on the way) while we went to the beach....alone.  We had hoped that maybe this would happen this summer while we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary, but wanted a little test drive.  We weren't sure how they'd feel about it.  So we told them they could either come with us, so they could spend a little time with Gage and we could go out, or we could drop Gage off there.  We were pleased/nervous/shocked, etc. when they said we could drop him off.  What would we do w/o this little part of us that we have never been away from for over 2 years??  Well, Luke has been on business, etc, but not this Momma!  Anyway, we got super excited and bought Gage a little suitcase and everything for his 1st trip to Nana's house.  We talked about getting to eat out, sleep as much as we wanted, go to the movies, shopping, etc.  We were so thankful to have this chance, not to be away from Gage of course, but to get to do those kind of things for the weekend.

I was nervous about how I'd feel, but tried not to think too much of it.  We just piled in the car Friday afternoon and took off. We had planned to stay at my parents that night, because it would be late anyway before we would venture to the beach for the next 2 days.  Gage usually has a hard time the 1st night so we though it would make it easier on all of us.  So Saturday morning, Daddy and I kissed Gage good bye and headed off.

AND, it was exactly what we needed.  We ate out 3 times, went outlet shopping, took naps, watched a ton of TV and slept in!  It was definitely well deserved and needed.  Although the weather was pretty bad, we didn't complain.  We called Gage a few times and he and Nana were almost too busy to talk to us!  Gage had a blast and got to visit family, do fun crafts, go to a farm, an indoor playground, make brownies and probably got to eat all his favorites!  I think Nana had a fun time too, although she might be worn out this week!  Overall, we were a little nervous at 1st to leave our baby for the weekend, but it was definitely the right time to do so and everyone had a great time!  Maybe we'll do it all again in a few months or so!  A big thank you to Nana and Grandiddy who gave up their 3 day weekend so that we could have some Mommy/Daddy time and they could spoil their grandbaby! 

Back to the work week it is and a huge miracle, I even produced a post.  Today is already Wednesday, thank goodness.  Yesterday wasn't uneventul of course...I got a phone call at 10am that Gage had fallen on the playground and bloodied his nose and got a fat lip!  Yay!  Twice in 8 days.  Is that what being a toddler is all about?  Geesh.  Have a great Wednesday.  See you this weekend when maybe I'll get motiviated to write again.  For now, Happy Birthday to my friends, Heather and Sherri!

Ahh...what a beautiful day!

Today is sooo pretty, it makes me want Fall.  This morning was in the low 70's...it didn't even hit 80 degrees until around noon today.  It is so welcoming after the month of July being in the 90's every day.  I always say I love summer, but days like this make me think Fall is actually my favorite season.  Gage and I played outside for more than an hour this morning and I didn't even think twice about how hot it was or when I needed to put sunscreen on him, etc.

Gage is currently going on hour 3 of his nap today.  I think the last 4 days at the beach took a toll on him.  It was super relaxing and we literally did NOTHING aside from go to the beach, eat and nap but the travel I'm sure wore him out yesterday.  We didn't even get home until his bedtime last night.  The beach is always welcome though and this week was no different.  Tuesday was pretty hot but it was cooler each day after and Gage had a blast playing in the sand.  ha...I took ZERO pictures though, we are going back on Wed. and I figured I would just enjoy the time relaxing and hanging with Gage instead of snapping more pictures.  We have pictures from the beach in June and I know we'll take a ton next week.  Nana got some too, I might try to steal a few from her.  Stay tuned for a unique post tonight about how you could be in the Guiness Book of World Records!

It's been a few days....

Not really sure why?  I'd been pretty good about blogging lately.  Usually I have more to say at the beginning of the week because of the weekend and then trail off at the end.  However, this week I don't have much to share.  Thursday Gage and I visited the zoo with my bestie from college, her sister and her little girl, Lauren, Gage's future girlfriend.  Unfortunately, I got zero pictures.  I'm kind counting on Jennifer to send me a few.  It was harder than I thought to push an empty stroller and to chase a toddler around a zoo- I didn't have any time to take pictures.  We have been there several times before so I didn't really need to take any of the animals, but I'd like to have gotten a few of the kids.  Thursday afternoon after nap we went swimming at a friend's pool.

Friday, Daddy was off work and I went in to work for a few hours.  We're supposed to go in a few days over the summer and usually in my case that doesn't happen often, so I thought I'd get a few things done before we ventured to the beach this week.  Yesterday was a pretty laid back day and we took advantage of tax free shopping to buy Gage some new Fall clothes.  This morning we went one more place and later on we might go swimming.  All in all, pretty much the most UNeventful weekend we've had lately.  Gage and I have been so busy during the week these days that it was nice to not do anything this weekend.  And as always, we're off again tomorrow.....headed to the beach for 4 days with Nana and Grandiddy.  After tomorrow it's supposed to be cooler weather, so we're looking forward to it.  I'll try and get up a few posts  before I leave.  Have a good week.  Stay cool!

Oh, I did get to run twice this week!  C25K, what?  Yeah, I know, better late than never though.  I still have my 20  min. run to do by Wednesday.  I'm seriously doubting that one's gonna happen, but we'll see.

Off to the Beach...

It's off to the beach for us in the morning.  It's Gage's time to spend time with the grandparents and my time to relax after a long school year.  If you don't hear from us before then, we'll see you Thursday!  Have a great week!

Here are pictures from our weekend in the OBX a few weeks back.  We beat the Memorial Day traffic and ended up with gorgeous weather.  One of my very best friend's from high school and his family came down to visit and Gage and Caleigh had the best time playing!  Then our computer died and I couldn't post so here we are now, a few weeks later with pictures...  WARNING:  This is picture overload!

Busy week at work...
