Watch Out Ladies- Gage has Game!

My kid, I tell you, he knows no stranger...which is a good and bad thing, I suppose.

This afternoon we were at a cookout of some good friends of ours.  Jeff's (the host) sister, Rachel, was there.  Gage has probably met her once before but didn't know her name or anything.  We played for quite a while, Gage ate dinner and played ball with Daddy.  When he decided he was tired, he told me he was going to go in and dream, or pretend to be asleep.  He went in the house for a few minutes., then promptly came back out and asked the 1st girl he saw, Rachel, if she would like to snuggle with him.....it was pretty much the funniest thing I've ever heard.  I'm sure she was caught a little off guard and I told him that we didn't ask people we didn't know to snuggle with us.  He wasn't deterred and asked again a few minutes later.  She said she'd love to and they went inside and snuggled under a blanket while he told her all sorts of stories.

I went in a few minutes later and he was singing to her.  I asked if he even knew her name.  He said 'No.'  I told him that before he asked someone to snuggle with him, he should at least know her name.  He proceeded to say 'What is your name?'  When she said 'Rachel', he replied, 'You are snuggling with me and my name is Gage!'  He looked up at me- very proud of himself.

So gentlemen, the  take away lesson- always ask a girl her name before asking her to snuggle and it is still  probably only cute if you're 3.

30 days of thanks: Day 4

Today I am thankful that Luke and I both have steady, reliable jobs that we love, that pay decent and have security. We know not everyone is so lucky!

And by the way, here's something to ponder....Gage loves brown M&M the best- he thinks they are the only ones with chocolate.... Today when he was eating a mini bag from Halloween he saved those for last. No one has ever taught him that- do you think saving the best for last is innate? I would've never thought so, until today....

Friday Funnies

I think I was going to start this months and months ago and probably got through one episode, but Gage is constantly cracking us up now.  He says some funny stuff and I really gotta start writing all of it down.  However, having pregnancy brain doesn't help.  He'll say something in the car that cracks me up and by the time I get home, I forget to write it down.  The other night we had this conversation.

Me (to Luke):  I don't know why, but my belly has hurt all day.
Gage:  It's because there's a  baby in your belly.
Me:  Yes, you're right. Thanks Dr. Gage.
Gage:  Nope, not Dr. Gage, just Gage.

As if I needed a doctor to tell me there was a baby in my belly!

Friday Funnies

Since I don't have a Twitter or Facebook account, which I think would be a perfect outlet for such things, I'll be posting Gage's 'funnies' of the week on Fridays.  Gage is constantly cracking us up and saying the craziest things.  He's only 2, so I can't imagine what he will come up with in the future.  Last night, Luke and I lay in bed and cracked up about all the things he's been saying lately and go figure, I can't remember a damn one of them right now.  To be continued....

I thought of one of many, but it'll hold you over until next week.

Me: Gage, do you want to sit on the potty?
Gage:  Yeah, I want to sit on the potty like Baby Jesus!

Yes, folks, that's right, apparently Baby Jesus sat on the potty.

Colonel, the snake....or make that Kernel

Gage has an aversion to ALL stuffed animals, except his Lovies and Elmo.  (Gage really has an aversion to EVERYTHING lately, but that's a different post.)  In any case, he loves to point and name Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Abby, etc. every time we see their cute little stuffed faces in a store, but if I so much as pick up the creature, he begins to incessantly say 'No, No, NO, NO' louder and louder until I put it back and we move on.  He also likes to point out other stuffed animals, at the library or such....'oppisant' (elephant), 'dog', 'bear', 'camel', but again if that thing gets one centimeter cloer to him he freaks out.  Fair enough.  I mean some stuffed animals are pretty creepy.  AND one less thing we have to buy him, or so we thought.

Last Sunday when we were in the mall, we went into the toy store with all the Elmos, Abbys, etc. and we proceeded as normal, he named them, pointed, I touched them, he screamed.  In the back of the store there were stuffed snakes, which for some reason I have always wanted to get one for Gage- we see them each time we go to the zoo and he used to not be scared of such.  So of course, Luke being Luke said look Gage snake and proceeded to pick one up and shove it in Gage's face.  I tried to stop him, because I knew of the fit that would follow, but instead Gage reached out and grabbed on to the snake with his recent death grip and hugged that snake as close as he could while the tail spilled over his stroller on to the ground.  He kept saying 'cuddle, sneak' and proceeded to rub his face against the snake and snuggle him like his Lovie.  It was unbelievable.  How is he scared Sesame St. characters, stuffed bears, etc., but he loves a stuffed snake?!?!   Which by the way is a corn snake, hence the name Kernel.  Here are a few pictures of right after I bought Kernel.  Every night since he has cuddled with Kernel in his crib and sometimes dragged him around the house with his tail dragging behind.  Kids....

This picture doesn't do Kernel's length justice...

Sorry for the blurry Blackberry pics
