Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

This is my last post before September rolls around so I'd better make it a good one.  I want to take a minute to wish Baby Girl over at Life with the Ardies a great big Happy 3rd Birthday!  I have been following Heather's blog for quite some time and we even email back and forth.  I feel like we could be friends if we didn't live half a country away. She was my online running buddy for a while before I went and had another baby.  She's also SuperMom if you didn't know and got her Doctorate degree while having a baby.  She just got a new job so wish her luck and head on over to catch cute pictures of their big bad 3 year old!

P.S.  Every year I have been taking a September 'Break' to get my life back in order once work has started again and to spend a little time with my family.  I debated putting it off this year since I'll have so many baby updates. Then I thought I'd take an October break, but while I'm on maternity leave I know it'll be impossible not to blog....so I think I have decided that I will take a January 'Break' this year.  Once I go back to work full time I more than likely will need it.....so never fear, I'll be around in September this year!  (Did you like how that rhymed?)

Update: 36 weeks

I seriously cannot believe I have only 3.5 weeks left of this pregnancy and I'll be considered full term on Friday!  I have a feeling it's going to go by super fast.

How far along: 36 weeks 4 days

Total weight gain:  31lbs.

Stretch marks: Uh oh, found a few tonight.

Sleep: Yes, please- I'm exhausted since I've started back to work this week.....hmmm, pretty sure that won't change for the next 6 months

Cravings:  soda and cookies

Best moment this week:  Lame, I realize, but going to a jewelry party w/ a friend Sunday night, have a feeling it'll be quite some time before I get to go out sans kids again

Gender: BOY!

Name progress: Definitely have a 1st name.  I cannot commit to a middle name and I have no idea why!

Labor signs: Thankfully no!

Bellybutton in or out: OMG, out! I don't think my belly button was ever out w/ Gage!

What I miss: sleep and being pain free

What I am looking forward to:  Honestly, after 2 days..... only being at work with kids for 9 days, then having a mini break

Milestones:  Full term on Friday?!?!

Dr. said I was measuring small because the baby is so low.  Says he's head down and we have to be 'careful' this time around because my labor might be even quicker than it was the 1st time.  I am a little disappointed because I found out my favorite doctor is on medical leave 'til the end of next month....so I only have a pick at 2 for Dday.

I swore I was going to take a picture for today.  Maybe tomorrow for Wordless Wednesday??

Our 5th Anniversary!

I get really annoyed when my computer freaks out and erases half a post I have already written. I can never write it the 2nd time b/c either a) it won't be the same or b) I'm just too damn annoyed. Good thing I'm not a writer or something. Anyway, I still really want to post about our 5 year anniversary but after writing half of it last night and the computer exploding, I'm kind of uninterested.

In any case I'll share with you the highlights....

Thanks to my fabulous parents we were able to spend a night out unlike you can when you have a toddler. We went to an O's baseball game, which may seem pretty lame to some, but keep in mind, I am very pregnant and we really like baseball. We haven't been to a game since before Gage was born so it was nice to get back out there. The weather was perfect and it was a good time, although they lost. They ALWAYS lose when we see them. After the game we drove to Annapolis to spend the night so we could walk around the next day down by the water and meander among the little shops. It was a good time and we had an awesome crabcake lunch. The service sucked but the food outweighed that. It got hot quickly but we did get to go in some cool shops and just spend time together sans toddler. It was our last hurrah before our lives are filled w/ diapers, spit up, and sleepless nights again and a great way to spend our 5th year anniversary. Gage had a blast playing with his Nana and Grandiddy so we all had a good weekend. What was even better???

The pair of diamond earrings that Luke bought me me to match my engagement ring! Aren't they awesome??

They were a complete surprise but are wonderful because although I have tons of jewelry I can wear them with just about everything! Here's to many more!

Happy Birthday Ianna!

Today I'd like to wish a very Happy 8th Birthday to our niece, Ianna.  Unfortunately we don't see her that much, since she lives half way across the country.  These are our latest pictures of her.....10 months ago at Luke's sister's wedding.  In any case, we hope she has a very Happy day today!  I do wish I had some updated pics....maybe I'll ask for school pictures this year.

OMG, I can't believe how teeny Gage looks in this picture. I mean, I guess it was almost a year ago.

Our Last Day....

It's mine and Gage's last day of our Summer.  I really can't believe it is gone already.  We sure stayed busy.  I'm sure if you read my posts from Summer's past I have mentioned that I'm always ready about this time to get back into a routine and ready for Fall.  This year, that's just not the case.  I don't know if I'm nervous about Baby #2 coming so soon or if I want to spend some more time with just Gage before his world is rocked, but whatever it is, it just seems different this year.  I'm just not ready to go back.  I know next week when I get back in the swing I'll be fine, although I can't believe I then only have 3 weeks of work and Gage loves his daycare so he'll be excited to get back with his friends everyday.  This morning we cuddled a little longer in bed and watched a little more TV.  I mean this is it....the last day we'll get to spend like this before the little one arrives, really.  Our weekends will be filled with finalizing the nursery, putting in car seats, packing a bag, etc.  We do plan on going to the pool a few more times hopefully, I really need to get a picture of Gage in his Puddle Jumper!

Some of our highlights this summer included:

*2 OBX trips as usual (to include 1st monster truck ride)
*our at least annual trip to the zoo
*our trip to Dutch Wonderland
*many pool visits
*our 1st bounce house experience
*music class at Gymboree
*our 1st 4th of July parade
*potty training
*Gage's 1st movie at the theatre
*Gage's big boy room

Update: 35 Weeks

I seriously cannot believe I have only 5 weeks left of this pregnancy, perhaps even less, if he decides to come early.  I have a feeling it's going to go by super fast.  Luke and I are obviously much more relaxed this time around as we have much of what we need.  I'm sure that will change once #2 is here, but for now 35 days....wow!

How far along: 35 weeks 2 days

Total weight gain: 29 lbs at my last appt., although I'm pretty sure it was 30 last week.

Stretch marks:  No, but the veins are pretty crazy, I guess it's the more desirable choice

Sleep: Yes, please- I'm still tired all.the.time.....hmmm, pretty sure that won't change for the next 6 months

Cravings: my sweet tooth from Gage's pregnancy is definitely still going strong.  And I want SODA so bad......

Best moment this week: Celebrating our 5 year anniversary!

Movement: I think this is a silly question at this point in the game, maybe I'll find something else to replace it.

Gender:  BOY!

Name progress:  Definitely have a 1st name, still undecided on the middle name.

Labor signs: Thankfully no!

Bellybutton in or out: OMG, out!  I don't think my belly button was ever out w/ Gage!

What I miss: sleep and walking and moving without pain

What I am looking forward to:  I am so excited to meet this little guy and see what he's going to look like.  I remember it being strange picturing Gage, but now that I know what he looked like as a baby, it almost seems that this baby should look the same.

Milestones: Officially waddling now!

Not a great picture but for documentation purposes, I suppose it'll do.

Happy 5th Anniversary!

It's a big one this year, ladies and gents!  The 5th anniversary!  We were supposed to do something big this year, like go on a tropical vacation or something, but well, I guess I had to go and get pregnant and that ruined our plans!  Luke's still angry about it.  Anyway, it is what it is, so we made other plans...be back to talk about that tomorrow or Sunday.  For now, I'll post what I do every year....pictures of us looking young and carefree.  No wedding ones this year, I think I'll highlight the honeymoon instead.

Flipper (Product Review)

Long ago when Gage was about 18 months old, we redid 'his' bathroom to something more kid friendly.  Although I never posted pictures on my blog, Gage wanted a dinosaur bathroom.  After searching every possible place, as I like to do, we finally settled on the set we would get him.  Then, it was my job, as I do every time I buy something new like this, to find the cheapest place we could get the whole set.  I wanted it all...the curtain, the rug, the tissue box holder, the shower hooks, etc.  I, of course, also wanted a toothbrush holder, but the one that came with the set was essentially just a cup that looked like a Triceratops.  I was kinda disappointed so I decided to look elsewhere.  I eventually just ended up Googling "dinosaur toothbrush holder" because I couldn't find anything else.  That's when I came up with the Flipper.  And how cute was this??  Plus, it matched the colors in the bathroom set!

Now, if you haven't seen these before, you may be wondering how this is a toothbrush holder.  That's why you gotta go check out their website to see how it works.  Basically it suctions on to the mirror or tile in your bathroom and the egg part hinges down the middle, you pop your toothbrush in and it closes right up on it, leaving your toothbrush handle hanging down, but your bristles FULLY protected from any airborne germs in the bathroom, how genius! This also comes in handy while traveling.  You know how they used to have those little caps to put on toothbrushes while traveling??  I, personally don't like my brush touching anything and have long lost 34 of those little travel caps, so I typically just use a Ziploc baggie.....however, for Gage's toothbrush, I just pop it off the mirror and throw it in his bag, again FULLY protected.  Pretty awesome, huh?  Flipper toothbrush holders meet all ADA and CDC guidelines and there are even some helpful tips on their website to keep your toothbrush as clean as possible.  I also like that if you have multiple toothbrushes that you can have multiple Flippers and none of the bristles will accidentally bump into each other.  I can just see it now, having a little family of dinosaurs suctioned to our bathroom mirror!

Dinosaurs aren't the only design Flipper offers.  Flipper has a whole line of animals ranging from cows, to elephants to tigers and three puppy designs.  Each one retails for $6.99 and can be purchased through their website or at limited retailers across the country.  They also have an NFL line ($8.99) for the sports lover and for the more traditional decorator, they also feature a blue or white 'bean' (2 for $3.99) as they call it, that has all the great features of the Flipper, but is a little more low key design wise.

Finally, something else that I'm particularly excited about, but have yet to try is their razor holders.  I don't know about you, but I think keeping my razor clean and dry is just about as difficult for me as keeping my toothbrush germless.  I always seem to have trouble with my razor sitting in my shower and rusting or getting busted up every time it falls.  Maybe it's because I buy cheap razors....however, I'm willing to give Flipper razor holders a try to see if it makes any difference.  They are available in three colors and have one big suction cup on the back to hold it to the side of the shower.  I can't tell by looking how the razor exactly fits inside, but I'll be sure to let you know once I get my hands on one!

Since yesterday was payday, I'll be heading over to Flipper to get my hands on a razor holder and if you or your kids are always battling with keeping your toothbrushes clean, you should head over, too and check out all the different designs!

*Although Flipper did send me a complimentary toothbrush holder for review, all thoughts and opinions in the above post are my own.*

Happy Birthday Ava and Katelynn!

Although I feel like there have been too many birthdays to even count lately I haven't done a birthday post in a while.  Today I want to wish a Happy 3rd Birthday to Ava over at More than a Mommy and a Happy 5th Birthday to Katelynn at The Kubeczka Family.  I have been reading both of these blogs for at least 2 years or more and enjoy keeping up with them.

Jennifer, who is More Than a Mommy, has just sent her oldest off to Kindergarten and welcomed a new little baby boy 2 months ago.  She has her hands full with a new baby and enjoys documenting with pictures.  Ava, her middle child, is probably lost without her big sister but is enjoying playing with her new baby brother and her increased Mommy time.  Go give her a big birthday shout out and see the pics her Mom is sure to put up to celebrate!

Katelynn is celebrating A BIG ONE today and also is about to start Kindergarten.  Her Mom, like Jennifer, also takes awesome pictures and loves to share about their daily lives.  She often has good recipes, too.  She, too, is about to expand her family so head on over to wish Katelynn a Happy Birthday and you'll be sure to stick around to hear news about the new little one!

Dutch Wonderland

One of the goals that Luke and I have for our family is that we'll go on some little vacation/trip each and every year aside from our regular trips to the beach.  Even if it's just something small we want Gage and his soon to be brother to be able to experience something new every year.  Yes I know, these things cost money, but reasonably speaking, I hope we'll have the chance to at least take little trips.  The 1st year after Gage was born, our trip was to Austin, then last year we took Gage to Wilimington, which we really enjoyed and would love to visit again sometime.  This year we knew we didn't have much time since we'll need our leave at the end of the year so we considered taking Gage to Sesame Place or something of the like for just a few days and we wanted to make sure it was something special he could enjoy since this would be our last time to focus just on him.  I wasn't quite sure Sesame was age appropriate for Gage so I am sooo glad we found an alternative.  I really can't say enough about this place.  I feel like I'm about to do a promotion for them, but that's just how much fun we had.

I 1st heard about Dutch Wonderland from a friend and went on their website to check it out.  It looked cool enough and from the website you could actually see what rides Gage would be allowed on, etc.  I couldn't believe that there were over 20 rides he could ride, since he is so tiny and I was doubtful that at any other amusement park this would be the case.  Plus Dutch Wonderland was $35 a pop and Gage was STILL free....double bonus!  Sesame and Busch Gardens, etc. are all upwards of $50-$60 and I'm pretty sure that you have to pay for any kid 2 and up.  In any case, I started to do some more research and found plenty of  blogs, mommy sites, etc. that compared Sesame and DW.  Dutch Wonderland came out on top every time.  People commented about the cleanliness of the park, the small crowds, all the rides for young kids, etc. and every one of the comments was SPOT ON.

First off we were taking our chances in going to an amusement park at the end of July at 32 weeks pregnant, especially with how hot it's been lately.  But we agreed to keep looking at the weather and if it was under 90 degrees we would make the trek.  Boy, are we glad we did!  Dutch Wonderland, located in Lancaster, PA was just a 3 hour drive from us and we planned to drive up  Th. night, have all day the next day at the park (hoping Fridays wouldn't have as long of lines), hit up the Strasburg Railroad the next day and come back Sat. evening.  We did just that and although the trip was delayed a bit by a rain storm and we didn't get Gage into bed until late Th. night we were up and ready to go on Friday morning long before DW opened.  Our plan was to get there right when it opened, play for as long as Gage could take it, come home and nap and go back.  We were excited to not see a massive crowd when we got there at 10am and we dove right in!  Gage had no fear (which is not usually the case with him) and we rotated from ride to ride to ride, anything and everything that he was allowed on.  There were plenty of rides he could ride by himself and some in which we had to ride with him, but on all of the rides, there was no line and Gage probably could've/would've rode them over and over again, had we let him.

1st ride was a boat ride, kind of eased us in
This ride cracked me up, if the kid couldn't reach the hand wheel or didn't have the strength to do it himself, you could push him along with  stick!  ha!

Gage wanted to have his picture taken with this princess.

This ride made Daddy sick.

Gage's favorite ride:  The Wonder Whip

The only 'roller coaster' Gage could ride

He's up there, you just can't see him

I wrote half of this post 10 days ago, so it's hard for me to continue my train of thought.  I think I'll just say it was a great trip to a great amusement park and we'll surely go again next summer.
